SES NY Virgin?! The TOP 10 Things I Have Learned About SES.

I was talking to a friend this week and he mentioned that he had been talking to someone about being an SES newbie, or virgin so to speak. He remembered that my first year, I had a kind of list of things I learned and thought maybe I should share it to help make the experience easier for new attendees.

So, since SES NY is just around the corner, I thought I would do so today. Mind you this is all just my opinion, but it is what I have learned about SES conferences over the past three years. Hopefully, if it is your first conference, it will help you not feel like you just started your first day of high school. Because I know my first time, felt like that, just like that. Did I mention I was a geek and not in a cool way, in high school ;) ?

10 Ways To Rank Without Links OR PageRank

Now I know the first people to slam me will be those who say, “have you tried to rank for the PPC…

What Does Google Know?

I just returned from PubCon – ok so I live in Vegas and returning just means driving home, but when I got back to my computer and started reading posts from the conference I started to see many comments on personalization and the future of search and that got me thinking about the subject from a personal level.

While personalized search sounds all warm and gooey, I currently deactivate all forms of obviously tracked search (note the key term there is obvious). Yet despite my attempts…

If Content Is Google’s King – Then Valid Code Must Be Its Prince!

“Personally, I do think creating clean code that validates and works on many different browsers will be an important skill for webmasters and web designers.”

Matt Cutts September 2, 2008 @ 3:21 pm · Filed under Chrome, Google/SEO

Google SEO guru Matt Cutts said something interesting yesterday, but so far it seems pretty quiet on the blog front, so maybe it went unnoticed or maybe no one cares. However, for me …

We Control The Internet! Maybe? A Note From SES San Jose 2008

Do we control the internet?

Hmm…Ok again, pretty daring statement – I know. But before you flame me, or whatever the proper term is these days*, I believe the question is valid.

So what do I mean by this?
